THE WORKS OF GOD

Most of the times, we as Christians are caught in the nest of trying so hard to please God our Father. This mostly comes when we are in need of a favor where none else except God can give us. The scenario is repeated in the Word of God.
John 6:28; Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. Amen
The answer of our glorious Savior even though simple but beholds so much truth. This question comes immediately after Jesus fed them with 5 loaves of bread and 2 pieces of fish. The people had been with Jesus and they were hungry. Jesus performed this miracle to teach them that WHERE THE WORD OF GOD IS, THERE IS ALWAYS PROVISION. Most of the time, we are either so much worried about what is going around us or we are so marveled at the sight of the miracle that we forget that the main thing is being with Jesus. The people might have said, Jesus gave us bread yesterday evening, He is capable of giving us breakfast, lunch and supper so let’s go look for Him again today. They weren't interested in what He had to say to them. We have to focus on what God wants us to tell us, what He wants us to do and what He wants to do in our lives and not what we want God to do for us. After all He says in Isaiah 55:8; For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Amen. The key is looking for God for the right reason. Jesus said THE ONLY WORK OF GOD IS BELIEVING ON WHOM GOD HAS SENT (JESUS). BELIEVING IN THE SAVIOUR OF YOUR SOUL. This is glorious!!! Think a little, if Jesus can save your soul from eternal damnation, won't he save you from harm, from hunger, from poverty? God wants to save us through His only begotten Son Jesus. Why then should we go on about looking for what won't last, why should we go wandering about for futile solutions?
When we believe in Jesus, we delight in Him, making Him our every thought and desire. After all when you have faith that your friend can do something for you, you give him/her all the time and attention, you listen to the person. It is the same with Jesus. In Matthew 6:33 Jesus says to us, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Amen. Looking for treasure stored up in heaven is the key to what we want. But to look for that treasure, we must look into His Word and believe in it. This is believing in Jesus because He is the Word as John 1:14 puts it And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Amen. Believing in Jesus, the I am, believing in the same Jesus of the time of the Apostles, the same Jesus of yesterday, today and the same Jesus who will remain even unto your descendants as it says in Hebrews 13:8, He will never change!
The psalmist knew this and that is the reason why he wrote in Psalm 37:4; Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Amen. Believing in Jesus is the only way to work the works of God. Let's go forth today leaving behind what is past, making God our delight through worship, prayer and meditation of His glorious Word. Amen GOD BLESS YOU!!!
